Volunteering recognition: Dunsborough and Districts Country Club

David and Wendy Collins became members of the Country Club in 2016. They initially joined with the intention of playing bowls but David decided it wasn’t for him. Wendy played for a couple of years, until an invitation to try croquet saw them change greens. Wendy found croquet more to her liking and subsequently took on the role of Croquet Treasurer. David didn’t play regularly, but served a term as Secretary and has continued to assist with court maintenance, though this year he has returned to the courts as a regular player.

David was elected to the DDCC Management Committee during a significant change in committee and has been Secretary since March 2020. He has been an instrumental part of a leadership group (with President John McCallum and Treasurer Mike Howes) that has taken the Club to a position of sound governance and financial strength. His understanding of regulations pertaining to running a successful club with almost 800 members has been invaluable. He is also seen volunteering at bike events, other club events and regularly assisting the Saturday evening members draw.

Wendy has continued to serve on croquet committee, and is presently Secretary. She is also Ricochet captain and has been instrumental in the establishment of community croquet, which successfully runs alongside community bowls. Wendy’s commitment has resulted in several new members joining the croquet section and, like David, Wendy is often seen around the club in ‘helping mode’.

We thank David and Wendy for their contribution to the successful running of our great club, and look forward to their continued involvement.
